About us
Hillside-library serves Kindergarten through 5th grade. We also now have a headstart class.
Students can check out books in the morning before school starts and they can drop in, with teacher permission, throughout the day to choose good fit books. Students may keep their books up to two weeks. If they need more time they will need to renew them. I run overdues on Thursday after school so look in your student's Friday folder for any overdue book notices. We do not charge an overdue fine however, if you lose or damage a book you will be expected to pay for that book or replace it with another of the same title. Please help your student be a responsible book borrower and return your books on time.
We are a Reading Counts School. It is a program where students read a book, take a test on the computer and earn points. At the end of each month, if a student earns at least 20 points for the month, they get recognized at our first assembly of the month and they recieve a free book from the Library. The more they read the more free books they can get.
20-50 points = 1 free book
51-100 points = 2 free books
101-200 points = 3 free books
201+ = 4 free books
